Grossglockner / Glockner High Mountain Sept:

Grossglockner sept was formed ~900Ad. In that time there lived many small packs all around the middle Austria's wilderness. Most on the Hohe Tauern's area. Those little, weak packs didn't have much control over the area and mostly the biggest fights were fighting of packs' territories. Also the great influence of vampire clans kept garou deep in the wilderness. Church had also some influence on populated areas. garou population was very small in that time and it maybe didn't even come to anyone's mind that they could actually fight their place in Austria's power hierarchy.

In the end of that century Grossglockner's sept didn't have any kind of control over the packs of the area. Sept leader, a high ranking Shadow Lord, wanted to gain better control over the area's packs. And because sept was so small, the sept leader contacted to organisation called Sons of Thunder. Later on known as Thunderbolt corp. Many of the sept's garou didn't approve this cause tehy feared that shadowlords gain too much control over the area. Despite this, contracts were made and Sons of Thunder sent 25 of their most skilled warriors to serve the Glockner sept. Sept recruited some local garou too and they managed to gather army of 40 garou. Most of recruited local garous were family of McLowenthal, Fianna's, whose brave and honorable deeds were written in many books during that time.

This so called Claw of the Sept swept in one and a half month over 300 * 300 kilometers' area from Lienz to north. They destroyed everything opposing them and everything they saw somehow wyrm-tainted. During that time 85% of vampires were eliminated, but also many garou packs and individuals that were thought to be to deep in Wyrm's plots. That's why every garou family dont remember that time as a time of Cleansing. Many families considered themselves to became wrongfully judged and the bitterness still lives under the surface. In mundane world among humans this was seen as a part of Magyar's attack to Austria and as a similiar thing like Augsburg's battle in 955 which is called Battle of Lechweld. In that battle German king Otto I slayed the magyars. Magyar's, German's and Austria's native's fighting was pretty usual in that time so this wasn't seen as any special case.

Later on many have said this cleansing to be badly prepared, too fast organized and actually served other purposes than garou's best. For example most of the vampire, the weak one's were caught and killed and strong one's still alive. However, truth is that without contracts with Knights of the Sons of Thunder the sept would've never gained the control over the area. Accordint to local Shadow Lords this is the thing and no further explanations needed. Some bitter rumours are also guessing how sept's true leaders sit around the table of Thunderbolt's leaders. No one has of course ever said this aloud, tho no one could not even prove that.

- In 2000 there was directly under sept's command about 40 garou (to this amount isn't counted members of surrounding areas' packs) and 60-80 kinfolk people. Sept has it's own troopers who traditionally carry the name Claw of The Glockner. Sept has some business still going on with Thunderbolt and it owns enterprise called Tauern Express. Sept totem is The Great Deer of Glockner.

Glockner Fountainside Pack:

This pack has over 300 years honorable history as a defenders of Grossglockner's great fountain on the east side of mountain. During that history there's been many bloody, but so far victorious battles. Pack's Caern is about 35 km from Heiligenblut to north. Glockner fountain has been very desired target during times because of it's very low gauntlet level. Among humans, there's lots of tales about it. According to one of them, if human jumps to the eye of fountain, he'll find himself from spiritworld. One can only imagine how seriously some takes these old legends...

Most of the pack members are local foresters or tourist guides, who are rarely seen in the city. They come good along with the Heiligenblut town pack, and the only occasions when they go to city are these unofficial "moots" with town pack. Fountainsiders - as they call themselves - have proven to be trustworthy and loyal to the Grossglockner sept, unlike their cousins in town. Pack is formed mostly of Children of Gaia and Silent Striders. There has been also few Red Talons among them, but as they have gone deeper into wilderness, no one really knows where they are going nowadays.

Heiligenblut Town Pack

Town pack is rather young pack which is actually more like "club" without any deep ties among packmembers. Most of the pack is formed of Shadowlords or Glasswalkers, Shadows are on a leading positions of pack. Also some other tribes belongs to it, but not many. Pack doesn't seem to have any kind of purpose or common goal. That's one reason why sept has critisized pack, because it doesn't seem to bring anything to the garou society on the area.

Packs history and this day has always been - and is - attached to McLowenthals and Oswald McLowenthal's pub, Eisenbreuer. Only the town pack knows the position of their caern and for some reason it's very well hidden secret. Lot of rumours are going on about the subject but no outsider knows the truth. Pack doesn't have many skilled warriors excluding few highest ranking Shadow Lords.

Glasswalkers of Town pack are all working in W.Net's Heiligenblut's office. W.Net is world wide corporation that is specialiced in mobile internet hardware and software. Corporation offers also some other network solutions but mobile connections is their main article. W.Net owns few big production units of hardware all around the world, but still most of income is from software. W.Net's board of directors is formed entirely of Glasswalkers, but there isn't any kind of "special requirements" to get a job from W.Net. Officially W.Net comes from the World Net, but it's quite obvious that there's been some other W-word in someone's mind...

Eisenbreuer Pub

Eisenbreuer is somewhat big motel / pub / restaurant combination in downtown of Heiligenblut. It opens at 7am and closes it's doors at 3am, but it's possible to get a room 24 hours a day. Meals are served during 7am - midnight. Biggest part of customers are garou and kinfolk, but it's also pretty popular among normal people because of it's vast menu of Irish beers and good steaks. Tho everyone knows that the pub has always somehow attracted the things that people in mundane dont see.

Pentex, and propably some others knows the real nature of the place, but stories about McLowenthal's family and Oswald 'IronGrab' himself have kept the curious ones away. Oswald is really respected member of Heiligenblut Town Pack, but he isn't so interested about pack things that he is about his pub and kinfolk. One reason is maybe that cause Lowenthal's has so glorious history behind, Oswald doesn't want to get mixed too much to Town Pack. It's history ain't so remarkable and besides. the truth is that it isn't very respected pack among area's other packs.

Somewhere 1500 Oswald's family moved back to Skotland, where they originally came from. Oswald, his wife, 2 kids and few cousins are the only Lowenthal's left in Austria. Main reason why this family stayed back then was their pub, and the fact and they had good relations with kinfolk in Heligenblut. There wasn't really anyone else protecting kinfolk back then. Even today there works few of kinfolk at the pub. Oswald has 2 kids and blood runs strong in family, Another of the kids has already got the babtize and it's seems like both are taking the place in garou society later on. No one knows why the blood in his family is this strong.

Heligenblut today

Main income to Heiligenblut comes from tourism. Grossglockner (3797m) has many tourist traps for tourists attracted into winter sports. Mountains around Grossglockner are full of walking trails, ski slopes and cottages for backpackers. Traffic on Heiligenblut's area - from Zell Am See to Lienz - is mainly passenger traffic. All the heavier traffic goes via Matrei In Osttirol by railroads. Roads in mountains arent suitable for any heavier traffic.

Second important income to town comes from mining, iron and graphite. Mining is also safe income for workers because during the second world war most of important industries were moved under states control. State still owns the companies in Heiligenblut. Despite the vast unpopulated areas forestry isn't very gainful. 39% of Austria's acreage is forests but lots of it is object of protection. Also the wood's quality isn't the best possible because of the geography. Hunting is also strictly controlled. There isn't much wild animals in Austria and the amount is going down all the time. Areas under cultivation are only 17% of acreage.

The last centuries Heiligenblut has been very peacefull area and nothing has threatened garou's domination over the area. Nowadays situation has changed little. Some effect to it has caused Pentex's booming activity in eastern Europe. Also the local vampire clans - or what's left of them - has strenghtened and become a little more brash. Garou of the area has been more concerned about improving own security and rearmament than spying the others. So it has been a little surprise to garou how things nowadays are. Some of the highest ranking philodoxes of the sept has been talking about the forgotten meaning of Lithany. Garou has been too long in peace and not concerned about what's going on in the area that now when it should act, it's afraid. Some of packs has even been pointed out and accused about cowardness. Some even believe that the garou of area has fallen to Wyrm's trap when lulled to believes of domination of area.

Sept has been critisizing some packs and has even placed own observers into some areas. Also Heiligenblut town pack has been accused of lazyness and omission of Lithany because thay have allowed Pentex and mainly Toreadors to strengthen their grip of the area. No observers has been sent to Heiligenblut's area, but that's only because Fountainsiders and Lowenthals. They got so honorable histories that sept dont want to cause such a shame to them. Might be that only prove of their loyalty to Lithany and their honor, will be sought in battle if things ever go that far.

Red Talons has been always lords of the wilderness in Hohe Tauern. After the Cleansing meaning of Red Talons has reduced. Today Red Talons has gone deeper into woods and are usually never seen around civilization. One reason to this is also the history after Cleansing. Tale tells that few hundred years ago, there was great and very powerfull Red Talon caern on Glockner. In that times garou and the fae had stong relations and lived side by side in Hohe Tauern. Fae were very powerfull ally because of their amount in the area. Not that garou had anything against fae anyways back then. In short, some homid born garous of the area betrayed fae in some accords. It was something that had great mening to them, but what most of garou didn't even understand. What it really was, I guess no one knows. As a punishment fae managed to break into Red Talon's caern. Without fight they managed to close the entrance to caern. There was only one guardian in caern and he got locked in. No one has been able to open the entrance since then. Fae moved away from area and Red Talons cursed the homid born garous to die in their pathetic cities. Since then no graou has been known to contacted any of Red Talons, not that they would want to get in touch with them...

Atmosphere in the area is nowadays a little tensed. Everyone's trying to strenghten own position to gain the control over area. Fountainsiders and Oswald wait much of a new pack. It's long time since they've got any new blood to area. New guys has also shown to have the blood and attitude of a garou. Some of the area's garou thinks that this is the change to good, but not everyone is happy about the matter. Stories about the "puppies jumping on tables" have also been heard. Some thinks that they can even be some kind of threat in future to those who are in charge now. Especially Shadow Lords on the area are very interested about their actions...

This is the start. The things before the game starts. Their pack was formed few days ago and now they are officially recogniced as pack of Grossglockner's sept. Hope we'll get some english diaries for u to read soon...
